Tempered enthusiasm

You know there is nothing like a long vacation. I'm not talking about an extended weekend...no, I'm talking about the using-up-the-entire-soap-bar-in-the-shower-during-your-stay vacation.

Before our trip to St Augustine FL, the wife says I haven't been golfing enough lately, she's done some research, and tells me she's picked out a great course for me to play while we're there.

Uh, exqueeze me? Baking powder? (apologies to Waynes World).

She won't tell me until we get there, so I can't recall if my 3-year old son asked "are we there yet" more often than me....but I know it was close.

Was I going to play venerable Sawgrass? Or maybe the highly-touted King & Bear? Or maybe she found a gem of a course that is tucked in amongst the Florida coastline?

My wife is a good poker player, so I couldn't extract any tells during my quiz-ad-nauseum sessions.

Where do you think I got to play? Well, just like in all good stories, this one has a sequel. You will have to come back later for the full monty...with pictures.

Thanks for reading. Keep it in the short-grass,

JFB

You are such a tease. You need to be a writer for a TV series where the cliffhangers abound.
